Grief Recovery Method

What is Grief?

While Grief is normal and natural, most of the information passed on within our society about dealing with grief is not normal, natural or helpful. Grief is the emotional response to loss.

Grief Recovery with Robin uses The Grief Recovery Method to help people move beyond pain caused by loss.

Examples of Grief

An ending of a relationship of any kind is not limited to:

  • Marriage
  • Loved one
  • Children getting older
  • Empty nest
  • Job
  • One’s self – trying to figure out where you’re going
  • Friendship … and the list could go on

Recovery from loss is accomplished by discovering and completing all of the undelivered communications that accrue in relationships. We are all advised to “let go” and “move on” after losses of all kinds. Most of us would do just that, if we knew how. Completion of the pain caused by loss is what allows us to “let go” and “move on”. It is almost impossible to “move on” without first taking a series of actions that lead to completion. Before thanking the actions for completion, it is important to look at and often dismiss some of the myths we have tried to use with loss that are not working.

The Grief Recovery Method creates the safety and the correct action choices that help people move beyond the pain caused by loss. It is a 7 week program which creates a safe environment in which to look at old beliefs about dealing with loss; to look at what other losses have touched your life; and to take new actions which lead to completion of the pain attached to a recent loss or one that occurred long ago. “The Grief Recovery Handbook, The Action Program for Moving Beyond Death, Divorce and Other Loss” (released by Harper Collins) and an accompanying format written by institute founder John James, and executive director, Russell Friedman, is used as the text for the recovery program.

The Grief Recovery Method is not an occasional, drop-in group. For the safety and success of all participants commitment and attendance is essential.

Individual and group programs are led by Grief Recovery Specialist Robin Gensburg, who is also a certified life coach specializing in loss through Fowler Wainright Institute. She has personally utilized the techniques of this program to deal with losses in her own life. Robin is also a trained hypnotherapist through The NLP Center of New York.

If you have experienced a loss and wish to move beyond your grief, participation in this program offers you the chance for a richer and more fulfilling life. The tools that you learn will help you make the most of your relationships with others and prevent future losses from being as devastating. The decision is yours.

Groups form on an ongoing basis.

Robin helps most of her clients on an individual basis.
